About the Position
SKA SA currently seeks to employ a HERA Construction Supervisor to join our team in Carnarvon, Northern Cape. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the oversight of the HERA construction team effort.

Minimum education requirement:
- Matric or equivalent
Minimum work experience required:
- 5+ years experience in a maintenance or construction role
Duties include:
- Coordinating the HERA buildout teams and assign daily tasks and goals
- Enforcing daily build schedules and report progress to the HERA Project Manager
- Managing construction personnel on a day-to-day basis e.g. check attendance, ensure productivity
- Receiving construction materials
- Ensuring work is carried out safely, and in accordance with appropriate construction legislation (OHS Act)
The ideal candidate will have the following competencies:
Ability
- efficiently divide team effort to achieve required production rate
- enforce and achieve daily goals
Experience
- infrastructure installation e.g. power, fibre
- construction fieldwork
- Supervision of staff or team
Knowledge
- construction tools and techniques
- computer literacy
- appropriate labor regulations

SKA SA is hosting a 350-element low frequency telescope array on the SKA SA Losberg site in the Karoo, Northern Cape. The project to construct this array based out of the University of California at Berkeley, but managed and performed by South African based personnel. It will be constructed over three years, using local materials and resources.
