Amoyo Performing Arts Foundation is a registered non-profit organisation for children based in Hout Bay, Cape town, South Africa. Amoyo is an after school and weekend performing arts training platform (dance, acting, singing) working with over 150 impoverished children from the townships in Hout Bay.
Job Title: NPO Business Developer / Fundraiser
Job Location: Hout Bay, Cape Town
The purpose of the NPO Business Developer / Fundraiser is to raise funds for the Foundation, working closely with and under the direction of the CEO and be actively involved in much of the marketing and PR, as the end product of those activities is essential to improve the Foundation’s image and its ability to raise funds.
Responsibilities:

  • Develop corporate & private donor fundraising strategies
  • Identify and build relationships with potential donors
  • Create and update donor databases and media lists
  • Secure commitments of participation or donation from individuals or corporates and develop strategies to encourage new or increased contributions
  • Attend community events, meetings and conferences to promote Amoyo’s goals, or solicit donations or sponsorships
  • Contact corporate representatives, government officials, or community leaders to increase awareness of Amoyo, its activities and needs
  • Design and produce materials such as posters, websites, or newsletters to promote, market, or advertise fundraising events
  • Develop direct mail and web-based fundraising activities, contribute to digital marketing / social media development & content
  • Work together with the rest of the management team in planning special events for fundraising, such as live performances by the Amoyo children
  • Recruit sponsors, participants, or volunteers for fundraising events
  • Solicit in-kind donations or sponsorships from individuals, business, or government donors
  • Develop proposals to submit to grant providing or other funding organizations
  • Prepare and monitor fundraising budgets, expense reports, and other financial data related to the fundraising activities
  • Write reports and prepare presentations to communicate fundraising activities and results thereof
  • Draft and send letters of thanks to donors
  • Assist the CEO in preparing periodic updates to donors and other supporters to assure them that donated funds are being efficiently utilised.
  • Assist the CEO with preparation of press releases, and the creation of other promotional material
  • 60% focus on business development or fundraising and 40% PR, Marketing & Events

Requirements:

  • Experience in the sector with a proven track record
  • Communication skills -both verbal and written
  • Ability to research and identify the most likely potential donors
  • Identify new sources of donations and other income
  • Be adept at people management
  • Build long-term relationships with potential donors or grant providers
  • Persuasively explain Amoyo’s mission, successes and need for funding
  • Ability to manage budgets, comply with all reporting requirements and meet fundraising targets as
  • Organisational and IT skills
  • Personal interest and commitment to the work of Amoyo
  • Must have a love for children and youth
  • Driving license and own car is essential
