2024 UJ ARTS MARKETING INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME

Deadline

6 December 2024

Opportunity Description

Looking for an internship in arts marketing?

UJ Arts & Culture, a division of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at the University of Johannesburg, is currently recruiting for their 2024 internship programme. Through these internships, UJ Arts & Culture is looking to help young professionals under the age of 26 find their feet and future direction. Energetic, ambitious and qualified young people can look forward to a phenomenal learning experience at the UJ Arts Centre.

The internship programme is specifically designed for newly qualified graduates, giving them an opportunity to enter the job market for the first time and provide them with valuable workplace experience. “With these internships, UJ Arts & Culture sets out to invest in the employability and job readiness of recent graduates who show potential and interest in these roles and the creative sector. The high unemployment rate in South Africa results in an extremely competitive job market and programmes like these serve as a stepping stone for young professionals,” says Pieter Jacobs, Head of Arts & Culture at the University of Johannesburg.

Arts Marketing Internship

This is a 9-month full-time (8 hours per day 5 days per week) paid internship based at the Con Cowan Theatre on the University of Johannesburg’s Bunting Road Campus in Auckland Park. The intern will often be required to work flexible hours and/or over weekends. The intern’s main responsibilities will include:

  • Social media coordination and engagement
  • Onsite event support
  • Ticket processing
  • Database management
  • Distribution of promotional material
  • Audience surveys
  • General marketing support

In addition to gaining professional social media marketing, public relations and database management experience, interns will receive ongoing feedback regarding their performance and assistance with career planning and preparation. The intern will report to one supervisor and receive the support of at least one mentor.

Young professionals under the age of 26 are eligible; an arts-related or arts administration degree would be advantageous.

Closing date for application is 6 December 2024. If you have not heard from UJ Arts & Culture by the 6th of January, please consider your application unsuccessful.
