SA Naval College Passing-Out Parade

The SA Naval College held a Passing-Out Parade in conclusion of the MTO1 1601 course. In line with its unit’s mission “to provide quality Naval Officers through dynamic training”, the college presented 56 well trained officers. Of these 45 midshipmen are from the South African Navy, 5 of the Namibian Navy and 6 from the Tanzanian Navy.

The parade denoted the unit’s well-disciplined and dedicated staff member’s tireless effort to achieve the objective and accomplish the task given by the Chief of the South African Navy, Vice Admiral M.S. Hlongwane. Amongst the dignitaries in attendance were the Namibian Navy Commander Support R Admiral (Junior Grade) A.P. Amangulu, retired previous Chief of the Navy Vice Admiral R. Simpson-Anderson, and Deputy Chief of the SA Navy R Adm W.H.O Teuteberg.

SA Naval College Officer Commanding, Captain K.G. Ikaneng gave a welcoming address which was followed by a march past in column of platoons to the accompaniment of the SA Navy Band. This was followed by a precision drill display by the MTO1 Midshipmen. Upon completion of the parade routine, C Navy handed over awards to recognise recipients for their individual effort and outstanding performance during the course.
Chief of the SA Navy, V Adm Hlongwane addressing the paradeV Adm Hlongwane took the podium to address the parade. He said: “To the midshipmen on parade, congratulations on achieving this first milestone in your careers. We are all proud of your achievement. As you embark on the next leg of your voyage, I want you to remember that the training you have received thus far is just the foundation. This foundation provided to you by the SA Naval College has equipped you to develop and grow.”
He further encouraged them to nurture the values instilled in them and to continue learning and growing .Moreover, in their roles as leaders, the sailors they will be working with want leaders who understand them, fight for them and appreciate their contribution.Guard of Honour
