AFDA 2024 Experimental Online Festival “hits” A Record
The AFDA Experimental Online Festival 2024 proved to be an enormous success. The festival page on the AFDA website received a massive 108 845 views with over sixty productions screening, giving viewers the opportunity to watch and rate the film and television productions.
The Vimeo statistics speak for themselves: In total from 21 June to 31 July the time spent by viewers watching the Experimental productions amassed to 12 days and 18 hours of viewing. There were 4 466 plays recorded. The top three plays were for Durban film Forever receiving 519 plays, Cape Town film Slip Away received 361 plays and Cape Town film Runner receiving 239 plays.
Three AFDA Durban films received the highest audience votes on the AFDA website: Forever (7020), Balloon (5783) and Forget Me Not (4018).
Congratulations to the cast and crew of Forever, who came out top across the board!!!
Synopsis
Forever is the musical story of Gravity, a young theatre director who falls for a jazz singer from Sophiatown, her name is Lifter. However this is not their first encounter, Gravity and Lifter are bound by the universe to forever meet, fall in love and grow apart through the ages. Accompanied by a myriad of characters, we follow Gravity through one of these cycles whilst he attempts to find inspiration for his next play.
