Agisanang Domestic Abuse Prevention and Training (ADAPT) is a nonprofit organisation that provides counselling and support for abused women. Although the initial emphasis was on women, the beneficiaries of services have expanded to include children, young people, the elderly and men.
Job Title: Financial Manager
Location: Alexandra Township, Johannesburg
Responsibilities:

  • Keep the financial books up to date (general ledger, cash book and petty cash)
  • Record expenditure
  • Record grants and other receipts
  • Produce monthly financial report
  • Prepare year end trial balance
  • Prepare financial report and budgets for funders and ensure that budget lines are adhered to
  • After liaising with the Director, make requests for funding to the Treasurer of the board
  • Take the cheques for approval and signing by the treasurer of the board
  • Liaise with the auditors in the preparation, submission and reviewing of the audited reports before submission to the board
  • Complete and submit EMP201, IRP5 and IRP501 to the South African Receiver of Revenue
  • Maintain the petty cash and fixed assets register
  • Monthly bank reconciliation
  • Manage the entire administration section
  • Keep the employees’ record up to date
  • Ensure that all staff members are up to date on and understand the policies and procedures of the organisation
  • In conjunction with the Director, handle complaints from the general public regarding the services rendered by the organisation
  • In conjunction with the Director and the Secretary of the organisation, organise staff meetings and ensure that minutes are taken and made available to all staff members on time and that copies of such minutes are kept in the relevant file
  • Ensure that mail is collected from the post office and that proper records of incoming mail are recorded and filed accordingly
  • Ensure that record of monthly reports office documents etc. are kept up to date
  • Ensure that the financial policies of the organisation are adhered to
  • Keep an up to date Payroll
  • Ensure that budget lines are adhered to
  • Ensure that monthly financial reports are produced
  • Ensure correct fixed assets register is kept up to date
  • Adherence to the organisation’s procurement policies
  • Ensure that the reporting requirements are adhered to
  • Ensure that staff members adhere to time management

Requirements:

  • One to two years’ experience
  • Diploma in Financial Management
  • Experience in Human Resource
  • Computer literacy with strong Microsoft Office experience
  • Financial accounting experience
  • Knowledge of Payroll System
  • knowledge of Pastel Accounting
  • Knowledge of EasyFile package
  • Knowledge of SARS and CIPC returns
  • Background in NGO sector
