AGSA Bursaries; Future in Accounting Professions
About AGSA
AGSA (Auditor-General South Africa) is a predominant audit institute in South Africa. Since the founding in 1911, authority of AGSA is empowered by South African law as the only institute to audit and report on budgets from taxpayers spent by the government. When AGSA gain its autonomy in 1993, the tasks is widened and AGSA becomes legally, operationally and financially independent from other public sectors and regulations; all is to ensure AGSA’s independency in doing their purposes. The vision of AGSA is to raise the public accountability. Values of AGSA is respect for the people, performance motivated, proud as South African, clear accountability, keeping reputation, and based on great team work.
Field of Study Available for Bursaries
The AGSA bursaries are open for these degress mentioned below but note that only applies to studies taken at one of SAICA (South African Institute of Chartered Accountants) accredited university.
- Bachelor of Commerce Accounting CA stream
- Bachelor of Accounting CA stream
- Bachelor of Commerce Financial Accounting
Requirements of AGSA Bursaries
The bursary provided by AGSA will includes tuition fees, accommodation or living fees, and book fees, for limited amount. However, the sucessful students’ academic performance will be evaluated and can result to bursary suspension to cancellation, depends on certain conditions. The other requirements that all candidates must meet are:
- South African citizen, regardless race or creed
- Fluent in English, along with great communication skills
- Determined and committed for sucess
- Potential leadership
- Sociable personality
Specific requirements for grade 12 applicants are:
- Have completed matric and enrolled in university
- Learned minimum of 60% for English
- Learned minimum of 60% for mathematics
- Kindly inclose all needed documents: grade 11 year end results, grade 12 mid year exam results, copy of valid ID, university acceptance letter
Specific requirements for university students are:
- First year students
Learned more than 60% of Financial Accounting
Inclose first year mid results, grade 12 final exams results and copy of valid ID
- Second year students
Learned more than 60% of Financial Accounting
Learned more than 60% of Managerial Accounting
Inclose latest results of full academic records and copy of valid ID
- Third and final year students
Learned more than 60% of Financial Accounting
Learned more than 60% of Managerial Accounting
Learned more than 60% of Auditing
Learned more than 60% of Taxation
Pass more than 60% of all subjects
Inclose latest results of full academic records, acceptance letter for CTA programme, and copy of valid ID
