Senior Safety Compliance Officer

An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Safety professional to join the Airport Management division at Corporate Office, co-located at Cape Town International Airport.
 
Key Performance Outputs
The successful candidate, reporting to the Assistant Manager Occupational Health and Safety Compliance will be responsible for the following:
 
  • Providing input into planning process within the section and execute the approved plan in accordance with policies, procedures, and processes to ensure achievement of operational targets;
  • Adhering to and ensuring adherence to statutory regulations, organisational standards, policies, and procedures;
  • Reporting non-compliance and implementing corrective actions to ensure compliance;
  • Implementing and enforcing the ACSA SHEQ Enforcement Systems, Safety Management System, policies and procedures and legislative requirements;
  • Ensuring that corrective actions are implemented and closed-off in respect of all reported non-conformances, risks, and remedial actions;
  • Compiling final incident and accident investigation reports as per policy requirements;
  • Performing trend analyses, compiling, and submitting SHEQ reports as per required timelines;
  • Participating in implementation of SHERQ Campaigns;
  • Complying with work rules, standards, and methods;
  • Taking care to minimise waste;
  • Planning, scheduling, coordinating, supervising subordinate activities to ensure efficiency and achievement of goals;
  • Building, supporting, maintaining diverse external / internal relationship to achieve organisational goals.
 
Technical Skills and Experience
The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such, will be required:
  • Diploma in Safety / Environmental / Risk Management / Public Health.
  • 3 – year Bachelors’ Degree in Safety / Environmental / Risk Management / Public Health is recommended;
  • 2 – 3 years’ Operational experience in Safety / Environmental / Risk Management / Public Health;
  • 2 years’ Operational experience in Safety / Environment / Risk and Quality Management in an Airport environment is recommended;
  • Code B Motor vehicle license;
  • Intermediate proficiency of MS Office Suite packages.

This role requires a top achiever with excellent verbal communication ability. The ideal candidate must be trustworthy and demonstrate good judgement when making decisions. The ability to manage conflict and solve challenging problems is critical in this position. The successful incumbent must be diplomatic and contribute to the development of others by improving on existing opportunities, whilst encouraging practice of new skills.
