Purpose of the role
The position has been created to manage the One Eloff Street Art Accelerator and Studios.
One Eloff is a vibrant art’s community that will comprise:

  • Artists Studios
  • Leading local artists
  • Artists residency / Artist loft Air BNB for visiting artists
  • Gallery and events space
  • Promotion of resident artists

Success in the role will be measured by:

  • Increasing online following and awareness of the Project
  • Increased studio and gallery occupancy
  • Development and maintenance of digital assets and platforms
  • Improved art sales

Roles and responsibility
The role involves four main areas of activity :

  • Studio and Residency Occupancy
  • Market the studio’s to prospect artists
  • Manage the artists application and selection process
  • Maintain and manage the project website and related content
  • Manage the residency / AirBNB Artists Loft
  • Gallery and event space
  • Arrange gallery and studio events
  • Find gallerists to rent the gallery
  • Support for specific shows
  • Shipping and packaging

The Artists Marketing and Business Development

  • Establish a proper archiving process and platform; that records the details and images of the work, including proper photography, for all participating artists
  • Ensure the placement of the work across all the key online art sales platforms (there are about 5 or 6 that matter)
  • Build and maintain a website for each artists
  • Build and maintain a social media profiles
  • Arranging pop up -exhibitions & art fair participation
  • Monthly news letter to collectors
  • Manage the sales process associated with the multiple platforms (managing couriers, export etc)
  • Update all platforms when a sale has been completed
  • Maintain financial records for each artist
  • Identifying international residency and exhibition opportunities Fund raising
  • Fundraising to support artists development programs
  • Fundraising to support the residency program

Qualifications

  • Higher qualification in Fine Art
  • Past record of working in the arts market (5 years) as either a gallerist or manager of artists co-operative / studios / arts association or platform
  • Solid network of contacts in the industry at a senior level
  • Experience in digital marketing and website management
  • Knowledge of photography
  • Archiving experience
  • Track record of successful fundraising

Duration
The initial contract will be for three day of 8 hours a week (and more if specific opportunities arise) for an initial period of four months, renewable by mutual agreement. The post holder needs to maintain timesheets showing what main activities were completed and for which artist, and submit a monthly invoice containing the details from the timesheet.
Location
The place of work is the Eloff street studio, although by mutual agreement work can be done online and offsite.
Remuneration
For discussion – will comprise both a basic and commission component. Payment will be made electronically on receipt of an invoice for the month. The commission will only be paid once payment is received from the client.
