ASPIRES Internship Opportunity 2024

Under FHI 360’s ASPIRES (Accelerating Strategies for Practical Innovation and Research in Economic Strengthening) Project, Save the Children USA has been contracted to provide technical assistance (TA) to deliver Economic Strengthening (ES), integrated with HIV/AIDS prevention education, for at-risk youth in South Africa (SA).
This is a three year, USAID/PEPFAR-funded project, which works with five Implementing Partners (IPs) that deliver programming either directly to communities they serve or through community-based organizations or non-profit organizations in SA.
The purpose of the ASPIRES project is to contribute towards improving the long-term economic security and HIV prevention knowledge and skills of at-risk youth in South Africa through theapplication of combinations of evidence-based, gender-sensitive economic strengthening interventions.
The project is seeking to recruit a motivated individual to fill the position of Monitoring and Evaluation Intern at the ASPIRES’ Pretoria offices
Key Areas of Accountability
In close collaboration with the ASPIRES (SA) M&E Senior Specialist the incumbent will:
  • Assist in maintaining and keeping the existing ASPIRES SA M&E system up-to-date by entering all M&E-relevant data into the online system in a timely manner.
  • Provide support in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual programmatic performance reports.
  • Assist with data management, cleaning of data, and quality control.
  • Support the analysis of data in line with the Performance Management Plan (PMP).
  • Participate in any required capacity-building of the IPs’ M&E staff to ensure the proper administration and completion of monitoring tools by the IP facilitators and supervisors.
  • Assist in the analysis of data to measure the impact of ES training by IPs field staff in strengthening.
  • Capture case studies and success stories in line with ongoing research and advocacy needs
  • Manage ASPIRES ES Dropbox and assist in the dissemination of learning products.
  • Productively engage with ASPIRES SA staff.
  • Other Monitoring and Evaluation functions as required by the project.
Qualifications and Requirements:
    • Bachelor degree (preferred) in Statistics, Development studies, social studies or its equivalent experience with a formal qualification of monitoring and evaluation.
    • Sound knowledge of social research methods
    • Experience in design and implementation of monitoring, evaluation and research
    • Advanced computer skills in Excel, Word processing,
    • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
    • Good strategic and analytical thinking and ability to interpret ES data.
    • Affinity with child protection issues
    • A valid Driver’s Licence
