Centurion Aerospace Village Internship Opportunity 2024
The Centurion Aerospace Village (CAV) is a Non-profit Company (NPC), an Industrial Park initiative of the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) aimed at supporting the growth and development of Aerospace, Defence and Advanced Manufacturing Industries in South Africa.
A company in the Aerospace and Defence Sectors seek to appoint three (3) interns to join their team on a one (1) year contract.

The successful candidates for this internship programme should have completed a Degree in Engineering (or equivalent) to assist in the project management support areas; a BA, BCom, BCompt Degree (or equivalent) to assist in the project admin/business development and general administrative management support areas.
The successful candidates must possess the knowledge, and confidence to engage and professionally interact with line management, the design professionals, consultants and clients. These individuals will work closely with CAV management to achieve desired goals.
Duties and Responsibilities (of each of the three interns)
Intern for Project Admin (CEO’s Office)/Business Development Support
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Admin/Business Development Support Intern will be to assist in the following areas as required:
a) Project Admin (CEO’s Office)
· Supporting the Chief Executive Officer as required and directed in relation to projects;
· Conducting document management;
· Discharging office management duties;
· Compiling reports;
· Supporting CEO with project administration;
· Taking minutes of meetings;
· Maintaining and updating document checklists and project information;
· Contributing to all administrative duties, reports and other related documents relating to projects, as directed by the Chief Executive Officer; and
· Conducting any other duties as and when required.
b) Business Development Support
· Assisting in managing communication with clients via emails, telephones, websites etc;
· Assisting in identifying new business leads for the organization;
· Conducting research and also make delivery on any intelligence that will have strong impact on proposition development for any new investment project of the organization;
· Researching and advising on priority sectors, like market routes and trends to enable the organization to improve its effectiveness in service delivery;
· Performing various tasks, like recording minutes during meetings;
· Developing operational contacts, which will provide needed support for the tasks undertaken by the business development manager;
· Contributing to the management of the organization’s systems to ensure things are done accurately;
· Supporting the business development manager to complete clients visit reports and system development;
· Managing reports and management information to ensure the company meets up with requirements made known by clients;
· Supporting the Business Development Manager to make inquiries on small projects and to handle them from start to finish;
· Contributing in a positive manner to the growth of the organization by providing required assistance to relevant staff and organization’s partners; and
· Conducting any other duties as and when required.
Intern for Project Management Support
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Management Support Intern will be to assist in the following areas as required:
· Assist in ensuring that assigned projects are completed within budgets and schedules while meeting client requirements, business objectives and design guidelines;
· Assist in reviewing the Project Execution Plan on a regular basis;
· Assist in directing and managing the Professional Team during the design and implementation stages of the various projects, including design changes from the tenant, as well as ensuring that contract documentation is updated continuously;
· Monitoring performance of the Professional Team to ensure standard and technical specifications are achieved and aligned with contractual agreements;
· Ensuring that project documentation is processed, approved and signed off both externally and internally;
· Facilitating project meetings and the documentation of these meetings;
· Administration of the various projects with the Principal Agent and within the internal policy environment and contract administration requirements;
· Monitoring progress of the work being executed regularly against schedules;
· Recommending and implementing corrective strategies where needed to best meet CAV’s overall project objectives;
· Developing strategic plans to support new programs and capabilities based on analysis of market trends;
· Assist in producing regular reports and statistics on a monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc basis; and
· Conducting any other duties as and when required.
Intern for General Administration Management Support
The duties and responsibilities of the General Administration Management Support Intern will be to assist in the following areas as required;
· Reviewing and reorganising the hard copy and electronic knowledge management system, including the CAV filing/records’ system for depositing, retention, referencing and retrieval of documentation, contracts/agreements, information and data;
· Assisting with Board, Management and other committee meetings;
· Performing company administration and knowledge management functions, including capturing and retrieval of documents and keeping registers and records;
· Building and maintaining a network of relationships with managers, executives and business owners to promote compliance and application of the service delivery model;
· Ensuring that appropriate guidelines, processes, procedures and approvals are in place;
· Providing support to management and internal and external stakeholders;
· Gathering and distributing relevant business information;
· Ensuring timely completion and validation of statutory and administrative tasks;
· Improving program and service quality by devising new applications; updating policies and procedures;
· Ensuring the smooth and adequate flow of information within the company to facilitate other business operations;
· Organizing and supervising other office activities (recycling, renovations, event planning etc.)
· Ensuring all functional area management and staff adhere to policies and regulations;
· Keeping abreast with all organizational changes and business developments; and
· Conducting any other duties as and when required.
Skills and Knowledge:
All interns should possess the required levels of knowledge/skills of the following in order to perform the stated duties and responsibilities:
· MS Office applications;
· Knowledge of customer relations, people management and processes, procedures and projects;
· Planning and organising skills;
· Knowledge of report writing;
· Communication and presentation skills; and
· Analytical skills with attention to detail.
Other Attributes
All interns should display the following attributes in exercising the stated duties and responsibilities:
· Ability to work under pressure;
· Understanding of BBBEE;
· Self-driven and self-motivated;
· Display of initiative and creativity; and
· Ability to work with and at all levels of management.
Remuneration Level
· An all-inclusive cost to company (CTC) remuneration of R90 000 per candidate (per annum) is on offer to the preferred candidates
