CUT recruiting learners for 2024 in central region
CUT’s student recruitment drive kick-started earlier this year (5-8 February 2024) in Thabo Mofutsanyana District, the second-best performing district in the country after Fezile Dabi District. The career exhibition was held at the Harriston School hall in Harrismith.
The exhibition attracted 31 schools and about 3500 learners from surrounding towns. The early drive is important for both prospective students and the institution, as it gives the learners a chance to know how many points are needed for which programmes so that they make informed choices about their future careers and important dates to submit applications and so on.
For the institution, the early start helps in building the brand, managing systems better and making proper allocations, cementing new and existing relations with schools, prospective students and communities. Of the learners who flooded the exhibition hall were Nomzamo Mkhwanazi and Mbali Gumbi from Uthando High School. The two grade 12 learners said they couldn’t wait to join the university in 2024.
“This is the most important event for me as I am now able to decide what I want to study next year and how many points I need. CUT is my university of choice because of what I have learnt from the exhibitors. They were very patient with us and well informed. When I leave this venue, I will be studying hard to achieve my own set goal of studying Engineering Computer Systems at CUT,” said Nomzamo.
Mbali was equally ecstatic about the recruitment team’s visit to her town. She was provided with information that was helpful for her future plans. “I came in here empty in the morning, but now I have already decided that I want to study Agricultural Management next year at CUT,” said Mbali.
