Job description

Interpreting data, analysing results using statistical techniques and providing ongoing reports and insights using complex and different data sources and possible BI tools.

• Implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimise statistical efficiency and quality
• Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
• Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
• Work with management to prioritise business and information needs
• Generating customer and market insights in order to deliver world class business performance tracking, data analytics and market understanding.
• Perform data analysis internally across all business departments
• Support range and category reviews, identify customer segment opportunities and assisting in understanding customer shopping habits.
• Experience across diverse BI tools with a good understand of data classification processes
• Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources and maintaining databases/data systems and setting these up
• Mine other and new databases in order to extract insights for specified projects
• Manage day-to-day activities such as data entry, quality assurance and project communication.
• Deliver clean data and quality tables on time against set and varying deadlines through the BI Tools
• Perform data validation to assess data quality before/during analysis.
• Produce tables for analysis and reporting purposes based on analysis specifications on assigned projects
• Being able to convert data and manage data segmentation, process indices, etc.
• Be or become conversant with (standard) data processing procedures and the BI Tools being used by the company
• Continually grow data analysis and data management skills and any other data analysis and data management programs.

Requirements

• Bachelors of commerce or related degree in accounting or statistics
• Relevant experience in data analytics, information systems and statistics
• Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst
• Technical expertise regarding data models, database design and development, data mining and segmentation techniques
• Strong knowledge of reporting packages (Business Objects, etc), databases (SQL, etc), programming (XML, JavaScript, or ETL frameworks)
• Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analysing datasets
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
• Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
