Job Purpose The Directorate: Infrastructure Policies and Strategies, Department of Transport and Public Works, is seeking to employ a Deputy Director to facilitate the development and alignment of infrastructure policies, strategies and transversal plans to strategically influence the planning and delivery of infrastructure programmes. This post is based in Cape Town.
Minimum Requirements • A completed B-Degree (or equivalent qualification); • 6 years’ appropriate experience in the policy and research environment or in the built environment; • 3 years’ management experience; • Valid code B driver’s licence.
Recommendation Knowledge in: • National, Provincial, Local and Departmental policies, prescripts and practices regarding multi-sector infrastructure, research and planning methodology; • Public Policy Analysis and Public Policy Development process; • Global, regional and local political, economic and social affairs impacting on infrastructure planning; • Extensive knowledge of programme and project management.
Key Performance Areas • Research and analyse the Public and Private Sector Policy Environment and alignment to Infrastructure Programmes; • Review and develop Infrastructure Policy Directives within the mandate of the department; • Develop Infrastructure Reports and manage the development of integrated Infrastructure Plan derived from the Western Cape Infrastructure Framework; • Plan and co-ordinate research on strategic infrastructure policy issues; • Support strategic planning structures with appropriate policy formulation and implementation; • Provide strategic support to the policy agenda of key strategic private and public partners; • Effective and efficient strategic and operational management of the Sub-Directorate (Strategic, Human Resource and Financial Management).

Remuneration R 657 558 per annum (Salary Level 11)
Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
