In this role, you will lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive strategy that defines content standards to support key business objectives and develop strategies for achieving those standards. You’ll define processes and policies to enable rapid adoption of new content specifications in response to stakeholder and customer demand.
As a content strategist, you will also work with our clients’ product management and product marketing groups, engineering teams, content services teams, and our customer experience groups to ensure our content meets the needs of all internal stakeholders and provides an outstanding customer experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead content strategy across the entire web development process
- A degree or diploma in library science, journalism, communications, English or a related field
- Background in researching, UX, writing and usability
- Minimum four years’ of marketing/communications experience in a web-focused company or agency
- Detail orientated and attentive proofreader
- Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
- Understanding of content management systems and strategies
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex or demanding subject matter, either verbally or in written form
- Ability to work both independently and contribute as part of a production team
Requirements
- Establish a consistent content specification that is supported by product management, product marketing, and the content development teams and the guidance on documentation best practices
- Conduct competitive analysis and content audits to provide recommendations on content standards, needed improvements, and content gaps
- Incorporate feedback from customers and other stakeholders to continuously improve content, processes, and standards
- Understand the role of content within the enterprise as a whole and help design and build solutions to support business objectives
- Building strategies for developing, implementing and managing compelling and well-organised content based on a thorough understanding of business objectives, user needs and industry best practices
- Analysing and assessing client’s digital content
- Developing distribution plans for positioning content across multiple channels to drive desired business results
- Drafting content publication and migration workflows
- Producing all content strategy deliverables including content audits, gap analyses, taxonomies, metadata frameworks, style guides and page tables
- Support creative ideation and concepting
- Digital asset collection
- Submitting creative requests
- Social listening and research
- Stay on top the latest in news, trends and culture
- Quality assurance/proofreading
- Social results reporting as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Advantageous
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related
- One to three years’ experience in digital and social media marketing
- Previous digital, advertising, interactive or marketing agency experience a plus
- Experience developing witty, compelling copy across platforms
- Ability to understand the goal, audience, and message and create copy to suit
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a love for content challenges
- Proficiencies in main social media platforms; paid social experience a plus
- Must have excellent personal organisation skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple projects, meet established deadlines and monitor project timelines and workflow
- Interest and motivation for learning new digital skills
- Passion and intellectual curiosity for social media, digital emerging technologies; keeps abreast of the latest industry news, vendors and is savvy on social media marketing best practices
- Creative eye, strong sense of style and knack for discovering trends
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to ideate and brainstorm independently and in large groups
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook)
