INTRODUCTION
Unitrans Killarney has a great opportunity for a Code 14 BVO driver that will do Local distributional fuel to various clients in the Western Cape area. This is a Fixed Term Contract for 4 months from beginning of October 2024 till the end of January 2024 Please view full job spec for more information.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Grade 10 Literacy level (Verbally and Numerically literate)
- Code EC driver’s license with valid PrDP (DGP)
Valid Dangerous Goods certificate will be advantageous
Experience:
- 3 years experience driving a ultra heavy vehicle
- Experience transporting dangerous goods will be advantageous
Skills:
Knowledge and experience in the following aspects required:
- Defensive driving techniques
- Function and location of vehicle components
- National Road Traffic Act (i.e. operating a vehicle)
- Reporting procedure of emergencies and defects
- Vehicle inspections and operating a fire extinguisher
- Maximizing vehicle cost-effectiveness and efficiency
- Vehicle loading techniques
- Fluent in English
- Minimum age 25 years
Successfully complete/undergo the following :
- Medical evaluation
- USCS training modules
- Induction processes
- Practical driving evaluation
- Verification of clean criminal record
Job Specifications
- Prepare vehicle for trip and operate ultra heavy duty vehicles
- Load, Transport and offloading of vehicles
- Housekeeping of vehicles, uniform and PPE
- Handle required documentation and perform ancillary duties
- Adhere to promote SOP’s and Safety Procedures
General:
- Contactable references for last two employers.
- Willing to work overtime, shifts, weekends and public holidays
- Reliable, presentable and neat appearance
