Job description
- Ultimately responsible for the magazine’s content, including all phases of editorial development.
- Ensure that Brainstorm reflects key developments and issues in the IT industry and remains relevant to its target audience: people of influence in the IT sector.
- Assist and support managing editor in establishing and implementing editorial procedures, ensuring the magazine meets its production schedules and team members are motivated and properly utilised.
- Work closely with in-house and freelance writers on generating story ideas, developing and maintaining a unique “Brainstorm” editorial approach and style of writing; encourage writers to generate fresh story ideas and provide writers with clear and detailed commissioning briefs.
- Work closely with the creative team (photographers and layout designers) and the production manager, providing timeous and clear instructions and ensuring consistent copy flow.
- Drive the magazine’s digital strategy, including social media strategy. Work closely with Brainstorm’s online editor to create and leverage synergies between the print and online editions.
- Be the magazine’s ambassador and spokesperson in the media. Be the face of Brainstorm at industry events and networking sessions.

Requirements
- Must have a relevant tertiary degree
- Must have at least three years’ appropriate business magazine editing experience
Advantageous
- Experience in the ICT sector, as well as a solid understanding of digital media trends and best practices will be a strong advantage.
