Electrician Intern at CSIR 2024

About the job:
The CSIR has a vacancy for an Electrician Intern in the Facilities Management Portfolio.
The incumbent will be responsible for assisting Artisans and Technicians in carrying out fault finding, maintain and repair electrical installations, electrical reticulation system, electrical plant and equipment.
The successful candidate will also assist Service Technicians with new electrical installations.
The position is based in Pretoria.
Key responsibilities:
Provide professional first line support on electrical matters
Carry out routine maintenance tasks on electrical systems in assigned areas
Monitor and test system performance using special equipment such as hand tools and diagnostic hardware.
Carry out emergency repairs as may be required
Maintain tools used in electrical maintenance
Carry out new electrical Installations and alterations to comply to SANS 0142
Use a variety of hand tools, following blueprints, wiring diagrams, piping schemes and engineering specifications to diagnose and repair electrical faults
Carry out preventative maintenance on electrical systems
Apply the latest maintenance safety technologies to ensure best-in-class maintenance safety performance and statutory compliance
Document work by completing accurate paperwork and maintaining files
Qualifications, skills and experience:
A National Diploma in Electrical field/or N6
Basic knowledge of Electrical principles and systems
Basic knowledgeable of Electrical installations
Good verbal & written communication
Ability to pay attention to detail
Customer service orientation
