PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To maintain electrical equipment in order to minimize plant downtime
REPORTING TO: ENGINEERING SUPERINTENDENT
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete plant walkabouts and report any findings to relevant foreman
- Attend to and repair all electrical breakdowns mill wide
- Trace electrical faults, replace and rewire burnt components and panels
- Fault Find on PLC’s and VSD’s as well as changing out of VSD’s
- Install and test new electrical installations as per foreman instruction
- Modify existing plant as required whilst ensuring drawings are kept up to date
- Complete maintenance work as per SAP work order sheet
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures whilst maintaining high levels of housekeeping
- Complete standby as per standby roster
KEY COMPETENCIES / SKILLS
- Fault Finding
- Preventative and predictive maintenance techniques
- Self-starter
- Work with minimal supervision
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- NQF level 4 qualification (Grade 12, N3) with mathematics and science
- Coupled with a recognised trade test
- 4 years relevant experience within a heavy industry environment
- Candidates who have completed a Sappi apprenticeship or ECP programme will be considered.
