This documentary film reveals, for the first time, the ways in which family members of high-ranking Nazi officers from Adolf Hitler’s inner circle struggle with the burden of carrying a terror-inducing surname.
In intimate interviews, families such as the Goerings, Himmlers and Hesses share the feelings of guilt and responsibility that accompany them in their daily lives.
In the course of his detailed and intensive research, director and producer Chanoch Ze’evi – a third-generation Holocaust survivor – was able to convince direct descendants of senior members of the Nazi regime to open up to him. The result is a mesmerising, deep-cutting dialogue that tells the story of the Holocaust from an original but mostly unconsidered vantage point.
