George Whitefield College Bursaries
GWC Scholarships
If you’ve completed matric and would like to deepen your Christian foundations before taking on the challenges of study at university or other tertiary institution, or if you’re just looking to spend a year equipping yourself better for ministry, you still have an opportunity to gain last-minute entry to George Whitefield College’s Certificate in Theology (an accredited one-year programme).
GWC is offering TWO tuition and living-expenses awards (open to all applicants nationwide), and a further THREE tuition-only awards to anyone who will be resident in Cape Town in 2024 and in reach of the college.
1st place: R60,000 |
1st place: R20,000 |
Note that scholarship winners are required to raise remainder of tuition and travel costs. To qualify, applicants must be Christian, must have passed matric and achieved at least 30% in English. Applicants of all age, gender, and race groups are welcome.
Every entry must include a copy of:
- Your ID document
- Your matric transcript
- A typed essay of approximately 400 words on the topic “Why I am a Christian”
- A typed essay of approximately 400 words on the topic “Why I want to study theology”
Applicants must complete both essays. Entries will be judged on the quality of the essay content; it is not a literary award—candidates with first-language or second-language English skills will be given equal consideration.
Email all entries to j.pickering@gwc.ac.za by Sunday, 4 January 2024.
A shortlist of candidates will be notified by email on 9 January, but their final receipt of the award and acceptance into the CTh programme is dependent upon submission of a full application form once their candidacy has been announced.
Students who already have a GWC bursary are not eligible for scholarships. GWC reserves the right not to award one or more of the scholarships, if for example no suitable candidate is found.
Awards are not transferrable or redeemable for cash.
