How To Get ABSA online security information
- What is your access account number?
This is the bank account number you will use to access Absa Online. You can choose to use your Absa credit card, savings or cheque account number when you first register.
- What is the user number?
You can choose to load more than one user to your Absa Online profile. So, if you have a spouse that needs to have access to your accounts, you can set them up with a different profile and be able to track each user’s activities independently.
As a default the main user is always number 1, the second number 2, and so on.
To set up extra users you will need to visit a branch with valid ID and your bank card.
- All about your Absa Online PIN
- A personal identification number (PIN) is an important number that you need to enter every time you log on to Absa Online banking.
- For your own security your Absa Online PIN can be different from your normal bank card PIN that you use to draw money at an ATM.
- It can be between four or five digits and we recommend you change it regularly.
If, however, you have forgotten or had your PIN revoked you will need to visit a branch with a valid ID and your bank card. For your security this is the only way to reset your PIN. - To avoid having your information being captured by key-loggers, use the on-screen virtual keypad rather than your keyboard to enter your PIN.
- You have three chances to enter your PIN. If you are unsuccessful on the last attempt Absa Online will lock you out.
- You can change your PIN under your profile as long as it’s still valid.
- All you need to know about passwords
- Absa Online passwords are the second step in the logon process. You will be asked to enter part of your password every time you logon.
- Remember that you will never be asked to enter your whole password, only three characters at a time.
- For security reasons, you have three chances to enter your password. If you are unsuccessful on the last attempt Absa Online will lock you out.
- To avoid having your information being captured by key-loggers, use the on-screen virtual keypad rather than your keyboard to enter your PIN.
How do you change your password?
- If you are brand new to Absa Online and have just set your limits at a branch, you’ll be asked to create a new password.
- You can change your current password online as long as it’s still valid.
- If, however, you’ve forgotten or had your password revoked you will need to visit a branch with a valid ID and your bank card. For your security, this is the only way to reset your password.
- What is the difference between a main user and an operator?
The main user is the owner of the profile on Absa Online. The main user has full control and access to all the functions and accounts linked to the profile.
An operator is any person assigned by the main user to perform only certain tasks on the main user’s behalf.
