OneAfrica.Online and NYDA join forces: Google Digital Skills Training
In April 2024, Google announced its commitment to train one million young people in Africa on
digital skills as part of their contribution to growing Africa’s digital economy.
With an expected half a billion internet users in Africa by 2024, there are huge opportunities for African businesses and young digital entrepreneurs.
The Fact Foundry, supported by Google, aims to deliver the training to youth across South Africa as part of the
digital skills for Africa initiative.
We are proud to announce that the National Youth Development Agency has partnered with The Fact Foundry to reach young people and make the training opportunity available to them.
If young people have the right skills, they can build businesses, create jobs and boost economic growth across the continent.
The training will equip a million young Africans with digital skills and tools to help them build an online presence, create content, understand web design and user experience, social media and app development.
It will help youth to break down the digital barriers that are preventing them from starting or growing their business, as well as help them improve their chances of getting a job in the formal job market.
The training sessions cover the following subjects:

  • Introduction to digital skills
  • Building your online presence
  • Introduction to mobile
  • Digital skills opportunities – start your own online business, promote your online/offline business, improve your chances of getting a job by using the internet.

The project is aimed at young people (age 18-35), is FREE of charge and each attendee will receive a Google Certificate of Attendance once they have completed the 3-hour training session.
The format of the training session is an engaging and interactive PowerPoint presentation so participants do not need to have a phone, laptop or tablet or access to the internet.
