Habitat For Humanity South Africa (HFHSA) facilitates the election and formation of a body of community leaders. Through leadership and skills development the leaders are equipped to lead their communities. Their approach is about participation.With over 1,9 million informal dwellings, there is an immense need for housing in our country.
But it’s not just a need – it’s an opportunity. That’s where HFHSA comes in, as a strong voice in housing and community development, they advocate on issues such as how to improve low cost housing, how best to get communities involved and how they may best manage their housing development in a future without government subsidies. Habitat’s Advocacy Program focuses on two aspects; advocating for changes in systems and policies that influence people’s access to housing & enhancing community participation & empowerment in the delivery of housing and informal settlements upgrading. The advocacy programme receives funding from the Ford Foundation to conduct research on identifying best practice for informal settlement upgrading.
Job Title: Programme & Advocacy Manager
Job Location: Cape Town
The Purpose of this new role is: To provide leadership within programme operations and advocacy to contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s vision, mission and its strategic goals.
- To support the National Director in the strategic development and execution of the organisation’s programme and advocacy objectives
- To drive and oversee the planning and implementation of programmes and projects in line with HFHSA’s business plan
- Responsible for the day to day internal programmatic activities (program quality, management, reporting) of the organisation
Job Context
Reporting to the National Director, the Programmes and Advocacy Manager is a member of the Servant Leadership Team (SLT) in a Christian organisation that focuses on decent shelter and development for everyone. The incumbent will have a strong understanding of the core elements of programme design and planning, advocacy and monitoring and evaluation as well as human settlements.
