Highlands House 2024 New Job Position Available
Highlands House, a long term care facility for Jewish elderly residents, is looking for an applicant to run our Lifestyle Centre and Activities Coordinator for 6 months while the current Coordinator is on Maternity Leave. The successful applicant will assist with planning and facilitation of the Social Activities programme and running of our activities centre (Lifestyle Centre).

Job Location: Cape Town
Aim:
- To maintain a warm and inviting environment for residents and visitors through functioning as a hostess to the Lifestyle Centre
- To plan, manage and facilitate a regular program of events within the Lifestyle Centre
Responsible to: Senior Occupational Therapist
Accountable to: Deputy Director
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and facilitate appropriate activities which incorporate the interests and needs of residents using group activities and events
- Plan and facilitate special events around the Jewish and South African calendar
- Liaise with performers, volunteers and members of the community regarding activities that are planned or proposed
- Maintain administrative procedures and logistics of the Lifestyle Centre and activity programme
- Participate in weekly Departmental Meetings
Requirements
- Relevant qualification or demonstrated experience in a related field
- Experience and passion for working with the elderly
- Excellent ability to communicate in English
- Ability to work with individual and small groups
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Excellent organizational and computer skills
Advantageous
- Experience working within a residential setting with the elderly
- Knowledge and understanding of Jewish customs and festivals
