Leading retailer of building materials and home improvement products requires a human resource manager in eMalahleni.
Requirements:

  • Matric/grade 12 certificate
  • Tertiary qualification in human resource management essential
  • Three to five years in generalist human resource management of which at least two years must be in a management/leadership capacity (specific exposure gained in retail/FMCG would be an advantage)
  • Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, MS Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to successfully work with people
  • Strong orientation to follow instructions and procedures
  • Strong adherence to principles and values
  • Proven ability to deliver results and meet customer expectations
  • Proven ability to adapt and respond to change
  • Proven relating and networking skills
  • Proven ability to make decisions and initiate actions
  • Proven ability to persuade and influence
  • Valid code eight drivers licence and own transport

Duties (including but not limited to):

  • Ensuring a competent and productive workforce through:
  • The identification and selection of quality candidates
  • Ensuring that career-path development and succession planning is effectively implemented
  • Ensuring the effective implementation of CBT (competency based training)
  • Ensuring performance contracts are in place
  • Effective implementation of retail management program and management development program
  • Effective implementation and use of the performance and development management system
  • Monitoring and control of productivity ratios (FTEs)
  • Control of personnel costs within budgeted parameters
  • Management of in-store training plans
  • Implementation of store Employment Equity plan
  • Ensuring that the highest standards of labour relations practice are employed in the business
  • Management of industrial relations – to coach and advise line management on IR processes and procedures
  • Ensuring that all employee and/or employment- related laws, policies and procedures, including those pertaining to Employment Equity, are implemented and fully complied with in the business
  • Ensuring open communication through the implementation of all store communication structures – PDRs/career and succession planning committee/equity focus groups/management – workforce meetings, etc.
  • Ensuring compliance with corporate social responsibility requirements through:
  • Implementation and monitoring of employee assistance programme – counselling and advising staff
  • Monitoring of store clinic activities
  • Monitoring of the HIV/AIDS awareness programme
  • Monthly human resources reports and reconciliation of personnel accounts
  • Monitor trends internally within the stores
  • Accurate processing of all HR administration functions such as minutes, warnings, investigations, leave, casual wages, etc.
  • Ensure the induction of new employees
  • Managing the human resources team
  • Ensure standards of excellence are achieved and maintained in all store human resources processes
  • Assist with the implementation of appropriate disciplinary and grievance procedures to promote cooperation and workplace harmony, consistency and fairness
  • Ensure all HR Policies and procedures are implemented
  • Develop and support effective working relationships with key internal stakeholders
  • Liaise with HR team and relevant line management in solving HR related issues in the business
