Job description

  • Review of the financial statements and reporting to the management.
  • Review the control procedures over reporting of financial information to stock exchanges in a manner compliant with the regulations.
  • Review the daily reporting process and business improvement.
  • Review of the departmental process and workflow and business process improvement.
  • Report and escalate any issues identified.
  • Ensure procedure manuals are regularly updated and utilised.
  • Ensure that a controlled environment is adhered to and policies and procedures are followed.
  • The performance of routine and non-routine internal audits, investigations, procedures/administrative assignments and reporting the audit results.
  • Executes and/or manage standard Conventional and Shari’ah Audit conducted by audit department.
  • Develop, implement and update Conventional and Shari’ah Audit Manual and Annual Audit Plan for all conventional and Shari’ah audit.
  • Support the business and functions to assess operationally, Shari’ah and Reputation risks and identify areas for improvement in control.
  • Undertaking fieldwork in the context of Internal Audit examinations diversified activities and operations.
  • Review the strategic plans, budgets and financial forecasts, and variances from forecasts.
  • Review of the departmental process and workflow and business process. Review the adequacy of the infrastructure systems and administration systems.
  • Review the staff recruitment process, performance criteria of staff, staff discipline process. Ensures knowledge of and compliance with the Institute of Internal Auditor’s Code of Ethics.
  • Perform audit work in compliance with internal audit policies. Must work within a detailed scope with the ability to work across different specialised departments performing distinct functions.
  • Ensure audit work and findings are adequately documented and reported to executive management immediately.
  • Review adequacy of infrastructure and administration systems and evaluate the effectiveness of controls within an automated administration and reporting environment.
  • Identify all significant control weaknesses and appropriately communicate these weaknesses to management as soon as possible. Document the results of audit work in accordance with audit department and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Standards. Contribute, where appropriate, to the year-end financial audit with external Auditor. Perform financial, compliance, IT and operational internal audits including planning and development of audit programmes including detailed review of systems setup (static data, security, screen configurations, data integrity)
  • Performs audit testing and identifies appropriate controls and key business risks. Ensure that the prescribed procedures for the business operations are diligently followed within the Oasis Group.
  • Prepare reports containing observations, comments and recommendations based on carried out work.
  • Readily understand all the compliance systems and become proficient therein although not expected to work on the system on a daily basis.

Requirements

  • Qualified chartered accountant.
  • A certificate in Shari’ah is essential.
  • Preferably two to four years of related working experience.
  • Strong understanding of internal audit and Takaful’s business risks and controls.
  • A high degree of integrity and professionalism.
  • Excellent in analysing and interpreting skills.

Advantageous

  • Knowledge of IFRS statements and their application.
