Job description

A digital strategist must be an expert in the full range of digital disciplines including web, mobile, social, CRM and SEO/SEM and should be a digital professional who makes a major impact on the digital landscape.
The digital strategist will drive innovative and highly effective digital marketing strategies for the agency’s clients as well as act as a thought leader for the agency within the digital community. Excellent client management, strategic thinking and executive communication skills are required.
The strategist will ensure highly innovative strategic thinking is applied to clients’ digital and inbound campaigns and will lead the whole agency in creating truly groundbreaking digital strategies.
An important function is to improve and maximise the agency’s knowledge, skills, and abilities in the areas of inbound/digital marketing and technology-driven marketing initiatives.
They will leverage their deep understanding of how to execute digital campaigns (web, mobile, social, CRM, SEO) working with the creative, technical and client service teams.
In addition, a key role will be to provide thought leadership to the staff, clients, run client workshops and knowledge shared with staff.
Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Working with clients and the relevant client service person to define scope and recommended approach for major digital projects for clients.
  • Provide recommendations based on marketing analytics and inbound assessment to address key business and marketing challenges.
  • Keep current with digital strategies, best practices, and associated resources.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing and success factors.
  • Serve as a thought leader in aligning digital marketing strategy with a client’s business goals and objectives.
  • Develops unique strategies and builds upon current client strategies within the digital arena to meet/exceed objectives.
  • Effective use of research tools to define target audiences and optimise marketing and digital media strategies and plans.
  • Demonstrated expertise in online advertising, co-marketing/partnership programmes and integrated campaigns.
  • Researching, identifying and compiling competitive insights to guide and optimise digital marketing efforts.
  • Creative ability and passionate interest in creating powerful digital marketing strategies that meet client objectives.
  • The knowledge and experience to analyse the data intelligently (from a big picture perspective) and include relevant and valuable insights and recommendations to the client in every report and review.
  • The confidence to present to clients and debate and discuss the review, report and the way forward.
  • Solid understanding of traditional marketing principles and how they apply to the digital and inbound medium.
  • Perform detailed evaluation of client business environment including customer needs, capabilities/assets, and competitive realities to identify unique market opportunities and threats.
  • Lead the design of insight driven digital strategies from opportunity identification through to experience definition. Structure and present recommendations to senior client leadership for approval.
  • Partner with creative and relevant inbound marketing consultant using relevant technology and analytics to ensure successful project hand-off and work is appropriately positioned for long-term success.

Experience level:

  • Three to five years of marketing experience in digital marketing, preferably in an agency environment.
  • Ideally, a degree in marketing or related discipline.
  • Inbound and HubSpot certification advantageous.
  • Proven success implementing social and integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Hands-on experience digital marketing tactics including content marketing, SEO, link acquisition, lead nurturing/email marketing, etc.
  • Creative copywriting skills; able to grasp and convey complex technical concepts.

  • Experience in a successfully growing relationship and creating customer success.
  • This individual needs to combine an in-depth knowledge of client business objectives, online strategies, and their competitive landscape with a rich background in the digital marketing industry to deliver effective digital marketing recommendations and strategies.
  • Professional experience developing a digital marketing strategy, project managing digital programs and online advertising campaigns. With demonstrated experience.
  • Strong passion for and knowledge of technology, emerging media and the internet; specific consumer engagement strategy experience required.
  • Superior organisational skills, attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Exemplary ability to present and explain technical concepts to non-technical people.
  • Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
