My client is an authorised financial services provider, a licensed retirement fund administrator and investment manager. They are based in Greenpoint, in the hustle and bustle of Cape Town.
The core focus of this role is PPC advertising – managing the client’s AdWords and Facebook accounts to drive cost-effective leads for the business. My client spends roughly R250,000 on ‘always on’ performance advertising each month, and there is also tactical campaign budgets that you will be responsible for managing and executing.
A secondary focus will be on deploying and optimising their email marketing strategy through MailChimp. We will be sending mailers to our client base and subscribers on a monthly basis. We will also be deploying triggered email strategies which you will be supporting with. Overall, you will be responsible for driving new customer acquisition through digital channels and for re-engaging customers through email.
My client has a long sales cycle, 45 to 60 days, and nurturing leads right through the purchasing funnel is critical. Our product set also caters for all demographics, from 25-year-olds to 65-year-olds, across income brackets. My client, therefore, needs a super sophisticated digital marketer, who can deploy highly targeted campaigns across different media channels, and re-engage users in a sophisticated way with multifaceted messages, that ultimately convinces a user to invest within this company. Think using data points like ‘age’, ‘income’, ‘gender’ and more to turbo charge your targeting and effectiveness. You will be using a range of tactics, from video and blog content to more direct response ads to re-engage potential customers.
You will be part of the marketing team reporting into the director of digital. You will be responsible for reporting on the effectiveness of PPC and email marketing on a weekly basis. You are part of a small marketing team of seven people and will be exposed to the entire marketing strategy of an ambitious and fast growing business.
Key responsibilities:

  • Manage and report on the paid search, display, social and retargeting channels, with responsibility for budget allocation and accountability for results.
  • Understand and provide insights into cross-device behaviour, and be an expert in digital media across desktop and mobile.
  • Develop and optimise new approaches to customer acquisition and conversion through all types of digital media (programmatic, RTB, marketing automation, etc.)
  • Coordinate internally with the marketing team to ensure we run seamless digital advertising campaigns across all channels – ATL, digital, partnerships and activations – and to ensure that the full user journey is optimised in terms of consistency, messaging and conversion.
  • Ensure that all paid media activity is tagged, tracked and measured in an accurate way.
  • Manage and deploy the email marketing strategy on a monthly basis, with responsibility for ongoing optimisation and reporting of results.
  • A/B test different approaches for PPC and email and report back on the impact of that work.

Attributes:

  • A PPC and Google Analytics expert. The individual must be digitally tech savvy, have broad experience in digital marketing, with a focus on paid media channels in particular, and possess a deep understanding of how they work together to produce the best results.
  • Have extensive experience in developing and executing digital advertising campaigns, particularly in mobile, search, display and retargeting, and have a strong grasp of funnel analysis, and reattribution modelling.
  • Have a passion for digital measurement and an understanding of how to implement tracking solutions based on business requirements.
  • Have a willingness to learn the intricacies of email marketing, and to become an email marketing expert in time.
  • Be highly numerate and analytical, with a data-oriented approach to making decisions and allocating budgets.
  • Be commercially astute, and possess excellent judgement.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferable.
  • AdWords certified, and preferably analytics certified.
  • Three+ years of PPC experience working across all paid media channels.
  • A proven track record of driving significant business results from the digital marketing channel.
