JOBS 2024 : TWO POSITIONS AT BUTTERFLY ART PROJECT
BAP seeks to appoint a qualified Art Teacher and a Community Art Facilitator
The Butterfly Art Project (BAP) is a non-profit organisation established in 2010 and working in Vrygrond, Cape Town. BAP offers healing art lessons and educational programs to children and adults in the Vrygrond community. BAP has a core group of staff and volunteers working in various roles.
BAP seeks to appoint an Art Teacher teaching children from the Capricorn Primary School situated in Vrygrond/Capricorn. The successful candidate will start work asap. Suitably qualified individuals with South African nationality or permit to work in South Africa are invited to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate and manage art department staff, volunteers and interns
- Attend BAP staff meetings weekly
- Design, prepare and hold art lessons (according to the CAPS curriculum and afterschool classes)
- Liaise with BAP management, school management, teachers, social worker and parents
- Coaching art facilitators and CPS teachers in lesson planning
- Co-ordinate cleaning of Art Facilities and materials daily
- Coordinate art exhibitions
- Report back in pictures and in writing to BAP Management and CPS Management regularly
- Source and maintain consumable stock for program delivery
Requirements
- Degree in art and qualification in teaching
- Minimum of one year experience in education in disadvantaged communities
- Computer skills (Email, Word, Excel, etc)
- Team player with impeccable personal and business ethics
- Interest in Anthroposophy/Waldorf education
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Own transport and computer must be available
- Ability to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment
- Good time management and multitasking abilities
- Ability to communicate in English and one other language spoken in the Western Cape

2. Community Art Facilitator
BAP seeks to appoint an Community Art Facilitator to support the team in training further
Community Art Facilitators. The successful candidate will start work asap. Suitably qualified
individuals with South African nationality or permit to work in South Africa are invited to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Attend BAP staff meetings weekly
- Design, prepare and hold training sessions
- Supervise peer learning hub
- Set up and clean up of training room
- Communicate with organisations and partners
- Supervise Monitoring of program in cooperation with our M&E manager
- Coordinate art exhibitions
- Report back in pictures and in writing to BAP Management and CPS Management regularly
- Source and maintain consumable stock for program delivery
- Update social media
Requirements
