Maintenance Manager – Weatherboard KZN

Position Purpose
- Responsible for maintaining Zero harm principles, while providing product and service that meets or exceeds the internal and external customers’ expectations using the most cost effective methods available.
Responsibilities include: - Direct manpower, materials & work activity to achieve plant output to planned levels
- Manage performance on productivity, quality and safety.
- Direct, coach, train and develop team members to meet corporate strategic goals and safety initiatives.
- Conduct employment interviews and ensure compliance with new hire practices.
- Manage shift payroll and submission.
- Direct plant operations within CHEP SHE/Weatherboard safety guidelines for all internal, external customers and contractors.
- Provide leadership for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage all Claims and payments for department
- Improve and maintain a mechanical preventive and predictive maintenance program through system and equipment inspections to maximize their reliability.
- Work with all supervisors to ensure maximum performance and efficiency.
- Perform all administrative duties (reports: maintenance, timesheets, accidents, performance, training, employee turnover, environment, etc.).
- Review production, quality control, maintenance; downtime and statistical reports and work orders to optimally plan own activities.
- Supervise infrastructure maintenance
- Identify, recommend and/or implement changes designed to improve production procedures, equipment performance, working conditions and product quality to maximize the section’s efficiency.
Qualifications - Education: College diploma in Technical field or the equivalent.
- Education: University in engineer or sciences is an asset
- Experience: 3 years in maintenance
Experience - 5 years of front line supervisory experience in production, manufacturing, logistics or customer service.
- CHEP experience an asset.
- Experience with formal safety programs, maintenance programs and knowledge of regulatory environment an asset
- Experience in Sawmill environment will be an advantage
Skills and Knowledge - Working knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing or other continuous improvement programs are assets.
- Production planning experience, relationship building, analytical problems solving skills, strong ability to multi-task and work within a team environment.
- Experience with recruitment, hiring, discipline and termination processes
