About the Position
SKA SA seeks to appoint a Research Capacity Development Manager to join our team based in Rosebank, Johannesburg. The successful incumbent will manage the implementation and administration of the Human Capital Development (HDC) university programmes, to create relevant radio astronomy research capacity.

The successful incumbent will manage the implementation and administration of the Human Capital Development (HDC) university programmes, to create relevant radio astronomy research capacity.
Minimum education requirement:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Education or Engineering
Minimum work experience required:
- 5 years’ experience in Science or Mathematics Education Management and Administration or Capacity Development Management and Administration
Duties include:
- Manage and administer the HCD’s university programmes
- Work with the Head: HCD to set appropriate annual equity targets, and monitor the programme’s transformation, to ensure representivity as per targets set
- Manage HCD administration and finance staff to carry out application processes, grant-award activities, financial functions and progress monitoring, for the HCD university programmes, in accordance with the SKA SA HCD Framework, and the NRF’s Delegation of Authority
- Perform administration tasks, appropriate to the level of this position
- Ensure compliance with all relevant NRF policies, and maintain good governance within the programme
- Draft annual budgets for all the university programmes, and adjust projections as required
- Liaise with university faculty and students / post-doctoral fellows, as required
- Manage the organisation of, and attend, the annual postgraduate bursary conference
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date database of all university grant recipients
- Report on HCD’s university programmes as required
- Present on the HCD’s university programmes

- astronomy would be an advantage
- applying PFMA regulations
