THE WORK YOU NEED TO DELIVER

  • Conducting vocational capacity evaluations and disability assessments in respect of individuals applying for extended periods of sick leave, disability and ill-health retirement
  • Analysing medical, functional and clinical data against claimants job requirements and the contractual obligations of applicable policy
  • Determining the validity of claims
  • Providing claim assessment reports
  • Liaising with external service providers to obtain further information and referring to claimants accordingly
  • Liaising with clients
  • Conducting ad hoc projects
  • Conducting presentations and group training sessions occasionally

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Excellent people skills and a caring approach
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Above-average report writing skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and to interact professionally with clients
  • Ability to be flexible to demands of the department (you may occasionally be required to work overtime)
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Must be an astute planner and prioritises

WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WITH

  • Matric
  • B. Occupational Therapy, B Physiotherapy, Nursing Diploma/Degree
  • Registration with relevant professional bodies (HPCSA, SANC)
  • You must have completed your Internship or Community Service year and been exposed to standardised work assessment batteries, or basic exposure to full physical and functional capacity assessment tools, techniques and methods as well as exposure to writing and interpreting physical function capacity reports
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans and preferably a third language
  • Must have good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Although not essential, clinical experience in physical, psychiatric and/or vocational assessment in an occupational health or rehab setting, as well as experience in a managed care or insurance environment, will be an added advantage
