About National Treasury
As the part of Ministry of Finance that holds South Africa’s economic and fiscal development, National Treasury is responsible coordinating macroeconomic policies and to promote national fiscal policy framework. Not only that, the duties also covers the coordination of intergovernmental financial relations, management of budget preparation process and exercising the control over implementation of annual national budget. Based on constitution, mandates given to National Treasury is to ensure transparency, accountability, and sound financial controls in managing public finances.
The Fields of Study Available
The National Treasury bursaries will strictly be awarded for the following fields of study:
- Accounting
- Economics
- Financial Management
- Financial Engineering
- Development Economics
- Econometrics
- Banking
- Tax Law
Upon completion of the study, the successful students will be obliged to work for National Treasury based on how many years they are funded by the bursary. Vacation work will also provided if bursars need it and will be organized by the Human Resources Development unit.
The Criterion For Bursaries
To apply for the bursaries, all applicants must notice several requirements listed below:
- Applicants are South African citizens
- Have been accepted by the desired university and provide the provisional acceptance)
- In need for financial support
- For matriculants must have Grade 12 certificate with university exemption and aggregate of 65% or higher
- For graduate degree must have learned minimum of 65% or higher for the previous year of study in university
National Treasury bursary covers registration and tuition fees, prescribed books fees and accommodation and meals allowance. The bursary will be paid diractly to the university or institution you registered and not repayable.
Applying For The Bursaries
Applying for National Treasury bursaries shall be submitted before 12 June and can be made online at www.treasury.gov.za also please attach documents needed:
- Certified copy of valid South African ID Book
- Opening letter related to your field and motivation
- Full academic records or latest Grade 12 examination results
- Provisional acceptance of university
- Certified copy of parents/guardian ID
- Parents/guardian salary receipt
- Death cerificate for deceased parents
