Music Student 2024 Internship At Drakensberg Boys Choir School

The Drakensberg Boys Choir School is an independent boy’s boarding school with an emphasis on choral music. The DBCS has a Christian ethos and caters for boys from Grade 4 to Grade 9.
Suitably qualified applications are invited for the following one-year internshipposition:

Music Student Intern

The successful candidate:

• Must have completed Grade 12
• Must have at least UNISA Grade 3 Music Theory
• Work in a team and assist in training choristers in preparation for performances under the direction of the Artistic Director.
• Have extensive experience in choral singing
• Be able to contribute to the preparation of new repertoire
• Have sufficient keyboard/drumming/ bass guitar competency (either or)

The successful candidate will:

• Have an opportunity to be involved with choral training at new boy level
• Be able to enjoy an enviable lifestyle (housing and meals provided)
• Do duty as a housemaster in one of the Boarding Houses
• Be committed to the duties associated with an independent boys’ boarding school
• Be expected to fully support the ethos of the DBCS
• Be able to tour when necessary with the choir
• Be able to accompany hiking trips.
