MVC seeks to appoint an Internship to be based in Cape Town. The purpose of this position is to work across both research departments as well as communications and administration at the organisation. You will be exposed to strategic political thinking, get the opportunity to carry out and communicate our work to the wider public. You will also gain a deeper understanding of the inner workings of civil society and the role it plays in our country. If you are keen on advocating transparency, accountability and social justice, then this internship could be for you.
About
My Vote Counts (MVC) is a non-profit that aims to improve the accountability, transparency and inclusiveness in South Africa’s political and electoral systems. They achieve our aims through research, advocacy, campaigning, popular education and strategic litigation.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing campaign related content for website, social media and mainstream media
- Assist in research and analysis
- Assist staff with logistics pertaining to MVC events and activities
- Assist in basic admin
- Network with civil society organisations and media in and around South Africa
- Attend meetings and events as delegated by staff
- Be willing to travel outside of Cape Town
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in any of the related fields: Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Politics, Social Sciences, Law and Economics
- Should have a keen interest in politics and current affairs
- Ability to come up with creative content ideas pertaining to our work
