NWU Soccer Institute Appoints New Coach In 2024
The North-West University (NWU) Soccer Institute appointed Mr Monde Hlatswayo as the head coach of all football activities on its campus in Mahikeng from 1 November 2024.
Monde was an assistant coach and goalkeeper coach for the Nedbank Ke Yona Talent Search Project headed by Ephraim Shakes Mashaba, Owen Da Gama, Khabo Zondo and Mike Mangena. He was also a coach for the South African Football Association’s senior men’s team.
Monde coached the University Sports South Africa (USSA) national women’s team that participated in the 26thUniversiade World Student Games in Shenzhen, China. He also secured a gold medal with the SAB under-21 men’s team championship as an assistant coach with USSA.
His football career includes playing for the Moroka Swallows junior team from 2000-2001, after which he was promoted to the first team, and then left at the end of the 2002-2003 season to play for City Sharks in the first division. He stayed with City Sharks until mid-2005. He then played for the University of Johannesburg (UJ) until the end of 2009.
Monde holds a Diploma in Sport Management and Fitness Administration from Jeppe College of Education, as well as a National Certificate in Sports Administration from UJ. He also holds a KNVB Level 1 Coaching Certificate, and completed the Confederation of African Football’s B-equivalent coaching course and the South African Football Association’s introductory coaching course.
Mr Monde Hlatswayo is the head coach of the NWU Soccer Institute.
