Open Window Institute : Impac Film Festival 2024
iMPAC is a non-profit FREE festival celebrating the applied arts and the moving image. It is South Africa’s premier forum for artists exploring possibilities in sound-image expression. This year’s festival will engage audiences with innovative and provocative experiences across a range of genres that include installation, animation, music, art, design, cinema and performance-based works. Expect original local music coupled with seminal silent film classics, art and design installations, photography and animation workshops, award winning South African short films, animation and politics, a discussion on philosophy and film, game and projection-mapping activations, poetry-image slams, two films from Chile, a focus on South African underground cinema, excursions into surrealist classics, and last but not least, zombie subculture! A diverse market of delicious foods, gin, and a craft beer stall will provide festival goers with the fuel they need to enjoy the offering at hand to its fullest.
The 5th iMPAC Festival takes place from 17th – 20th of August at the OPEN WINDOW CAMPUS at the end of John Vorster Drive in Southdowns, Irene.
