Message from South African National Parks
SANParks has developed the Strategic Plan for Commercialisation, a significant element of SANParks’ ecotourism pillar. The core objective of the Strategic Plan is the implementation of Public Private Partnerships(PPPs). The purpose of these PPP’s is to reduce the cost of delivery, improve service levels by focusing on core business, leverage private capital and expertise as well as to expand the range of tourism products and to generate additional revenue for the funding of conservation and constituency building.
Over the past fifteen years, SANParks have progressively increased the number of PPP transactions, covering a wide range of projects, including accommodation, restaurants, retail, activities, an airport and the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway. By March 2024, there were more than forty PPP projects in active implementation resulting in significant contributions to the funding of conservation and creating sustainability for SANParks.
In a concerted effort to explore new PPP Opportunities, SANParks is convening a business summit to engage and interact with current and potential investors on the PPP environment in SANParks. The conference titled ‘SANParks Tourism Investment Summit’ is taking place in Johannesburg on the 04th of April 2024.
