Riebeek Valley Olive Festival 2024
The Riebeek Valley Olive Festival is a much-anticipated event which is known for its organic foods and fine wines. In recent times, it has been voted as one of the best food festivals in the Western Cape, because of its world-acclaimed olives, wines, cheeses, pickles, jams, bread and an eclectic mix of local characters.
The event falls on the weekend of 6 – 7 May 2024 and takes place at various venues between the picturesque towns of Riebeek Kasteel and Riebeek West. The participating venues are Kloovenburg, Het Vlock Kasteel, The Olive Boutique, The Riebeek Kasteel Town Square, Riebeek Cellars, Allesverloren and Pulpit Rock. Being a mere hour’s drive from Cape Town, a weekend trip to Riebeek Valley makes for a tranquil breakaway for jaded urbanites.
The Riebeek Valley Olive Festival is all about embracing the humble olive in all of its forms, from tapenade to olive oil. For one weekend only, a number of participating farms will open their doors for tours and tastings allowing folks the opportunity to learn, taste and buy olive-related produce.
In previous years, esteemed farms hosted guided walks to the olive groves as well as olive press demonstrations and the Olive Boutique, well-known suppliers of delicious olive products gave visitors the opportunity to taste all manner of products including olive pastas, pestos, mustards and olive oils. Similar events can be expected in 2024.
A choice of live music, kids’ entertainment, tractor rides, colourful local culture and family fun will enhance the belief that this is no ordinary festival, this is pure Riebeek magic at its best.
