Key Performance Outputs:
The successful candidate, reporting to the Group Manager: Technical Research and Development, will be responsible for the following:
- Conducting research on prioritised technical areas at airports, in relation to technology trends and advancements, with a focus on addressing business objectives.
- Harvesting and leveraging ACSAs internal knowledge on prioritised technical areas at airports.
- Gathering ACSAs functional input on the applicability of technical solutions for adoption across the ACSA network.
- Identification of potential improvements to existing technical solutions.
- Assisting in the assessment of potential investment opportunities identified from the innovation process, with input from relevant functional areas in the organisation.
- Conceptualising and developing proposals for new products, processes and services that can improve operational efficiencies and passenger experience at airports (from a technological perspective).
- Developing pre-feasibility and feasibility assessments for technological interventions.
- Supporting the development and management of a Knowledge Management repository, which includes: contributing to the establishment of the framework, receiving submissions, conducting quality assurance, providing feedback, and capturing innovation-related information.
- Establishing and maintaining good stakeholder relations to enhance innovation outcomes.
Technical Skills and Experience:
The following skills and experience, or the equivalent thereof, will be required:
- Minimum of a relevant Honours or 4-year Bachelors degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline.
- Masters degree is recommended.
- 6 – 8 years experience in a multidisciplinary research environment, with exposure to technological innovation.
- 3 years experience in the reporting of research findings is essential.
- 5 Years operational experience in airports/aviation is recommended.
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office is essential.

Furthermore, the ideal candidate must also be trustworthy, productive and a good communicator. The following qualities are also desirable: a keen interest in technology, problem-solving skills, and an ability to prioritise.
