SAMRC PhD fellowship May 2024

A research collaboration between South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) (Discipline of Public Health Medicine) and the Karolinska Institutet (Sweden) has made available one PhD fellowship.
The PhD project will form part of a multi-disciplinary SAMRC-Forte (Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare) funded study on Health systems strengthening for South African traditional medicine. The PhD project will be designed to answer important and implicit questions on policy, practitioners and products of South African traditional medicine.
The successful candidate will be registered at UKZN Discipline of Public Health Medicine in Durban.
VALUE, PERIOD AND CONDITIONS OF THE AWARD
- The value of the award is R120 000 per annum in the first year.
- Annual renewals may be possible and will, if awarded, be subject to proof of satisfactory progress.
- The maximum period for the award is 3 years.
ELIGIBILITY
- South African citizens, including permanent residents.
- A successfully completed Master’s Degree in social sciences or health qualification with proven relevant qualitative research experience.
ADVANTAGE
- Willing and able to travel to Sweden.
- A keen interest in Health Systems and Policy.
