Senior Scientist (Seasoned) – Specialist Scientist (Entry)

Two year contract post
The SAMRC’s Cochrane South Africa unit seeks to appoint either a Senior Scientist (Seasoned) or Specialist Scientist (Entry) who will play a key role in the management and research for the Clinical Trials platforms including the Pan African Clinical Trials Registry and the South African Clinical Trials Registry.
Core Requirements:
For the lower level

  • A Masters degree in the Health Sciences
  • Masters degree with two years working towards your PhD would be advantageous
  • Evidence of independent publications
  • At least 3 years’ research experience post M-degree and national recognition

For the higher level

  • A PhD in the Health Sciences or MBChB plus a specialist qualification
  • At least 5 years’ research experience
  • An  extensive publication record and international recognition, together with greater experience in supervising staff and generating grant funding
  • A track record of conducting research in public health, clinical epidemiology or evidence-based healthcare is a requirement
  •  Clinical trial research experience would be an advantage

A salary in the region of ZAR 631,000 per annum (lower level) or ZAR 691 000 per annum (upper level), cost-to-company will be negotiated in consideration of experience and qualifications.
