PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The incumbent in this position wraps tissue rolls to required customer specification according to best operating practices and ISO standards to achieve maximum productivity.
REPORTING TO: PRODUCTION FOREMAN – TISSUE
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares wrapping material and wrap reels to standard specifications
- Label reels and ensures that correct tonnages have been processed
- Ensures that plugs, bungs, side discs and straps are used as required
- Reports any shortage of wrapping material and accessories to Tally Clerk
- Carries out duties of tally Clerk during his/her absence
- Assists on Winder when required
- Assists with Tissue Machine start up and shuts
- Maintains high standard of safety and housekeeping
- Carries out other reasonable duties/tasks as requested by supervision
- Reduces wastes
- Prevents spills
- Meets environmental targets that apply to his sphere of influence.
- Complies with hazardous chemical handling procedure
- Complies with environmental legal requirements
SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT & QUALITY (SHEQ) - Understand & comply with all SHEQ requirements of the job.
- Carries out BBS Observations
- Identify and take corrective action in terms of SHEQ conditions and hazards.
- Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all times
KEY COMPETENCIES / SKILLS
- Ability to wrap rolls/bundles effectively
- Expertise in manual wrapping
- Knowledge of the various plastic and sizes used
- Knowledge of bungs and usage
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- Matric (Grade 12) OR N3 Pulp and paper OR NQF Level 4 Paper Board
- Studying towards N1 Pulp & Paper or NQF Level 4 Paper Board advantageous
- Minimum Experience
- Six (6) months experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably paper production
- One (1) month reel wrapping experience will be considered advantageous
