Sappi Available Senior HR Business Partner Job Vacancy
Sappi Global Head Office based in Rosebank requires a Senior HR Business Partner to advise senior managers on matters related to Human Capital management. Support the development and implementation of competitive remuneration practices for Sappi Southern Africa.
REPORTING TO: General Manager Remuneration and Benefits
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver human resources advisory services to a designated group of senior managers and their teams.
- Create annual plans to deliver Sappi regional as well as business unit human resources priorities for the assigned portfolio.
- Provide day to day advice to employees and line managers on how to respond to people issues.
- Resolve escalated labour and employment related issues.
- Coach senior managers and regional directors on people management best practices with a focus on remuneration and talent management.
- Review the development plans of senior manager successors and advise on alternative development actions such as job rotations, international assignments and project exposure.
- Prepare offers for senior placements including determining share allocations, relocations, competitive salary structures and buy-outs of shares or bonuses.
- Participate in the on boarding of new senior employees.
- Monitor key people risk metrics for the supported business and flag anticipated risks to the senior business team.
- Drive and execute major regional culture change initiatives such as code of ethic, new strategy deployment and safety culture.
- Work closely with the General Manager Remuneration and Benefits on the defined remuneration projects, including recognition programmes, revamp of production / performance bonus structures, consolidation of pay variations and other projects.
- Oversee the communication of remuneration increases and bonus guidelines during the annual increase cycle.
- Provide support to directors and senior managers on queries related to remuneration processes.
- Validate the job grading performed in the business units for all jobs on HRL20 and below.
- Educate the business on effective job profiling and use of competencies.
- Determine appropriate remuneration packages for positions at various levels.
- Participate in annual pulp and paper wage negotiations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- National Diploma or B Tech in Human Resources with at least 8 years’ experience in heavy industry or Forestry; or
- Bachelor Degree in Industrial Psychology, Human Resources or related fields with 5 years’ experience as an HR generalist in a unionised manufacturing or forestry environment
- Remuneration management experience
