ROLE DESCRIPTION
Job summary statement/purpose
Supports finance function by collecting, analyzing, investigating, and reporting financial data.
Upon completion of the programme the graduate would have acquired the following skills:
1. Fixed Asset management
Reviewing and preparing Fixed Asset Additions and Disposals on monthly basis
Ensure procedures are followed in respect of the Fixed Asset policy.
Ensuring for the proper recording of fixed assets per asset classes;
Perform the monthly Depreciation run and perform monthly Fixed Asset Reconciliation.
2. General bookkeeping
Verifies, allocates and posts details of business transactions in journals
Posts, checks and proof entries to general ledger and accounts within the stipulated financial policies
Review invoices on Fraxion and posting invoices processed to GP within the stipulated timeframe.
Prepares, invoices, , reconciles accounts and verifies for accuracy
Compiles reports to show statistics such as cash receipts and expenditures, accounts received and payable and reviews for accuracy
Attend to any other related queries
Inputting Annexures into the system and reconciling and reviewing differences to payments.
Recalculation of commissions
Reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts
Accounting for debit orders
Cash book recons and reviews
3. Claims Support
Review and process Salvage Invoices
Attend to any other claims related queries
Claims reconciliations
4. General financial accounting
Journals: verifies, allocates and posts details of business transactions in journals
Prepare monthly expenditure reports for departments
Compare Actual monthly results with Budget and obtain reasons for variance
Responds to financial enquiries by gathering, analysing, summarising, and interpreting data
Provides financial advice by studying operational issues; applying financial principles and practices; developing recommendations
Prepares special reports by studying variances; preparing budgets; developing forecasts
5. Investment Administration
Receive monthly investment statements from Investment Managers
Reconciliation between custodian and the asset manager report
Process and reconcile on Excel Investment Workings
Analyse investment results and prepare graphs per Asset Manager
6. Financial Reporting
External audit:
Preparation of external audit requirements
Reporting:
Monthly, Quarterly, annual reporting for management, committees, FSB, National Treasury, Tax / vat
Assist with the calculation of monthly VAT and reconciliation
Assist with the annual taxation calculation Adhoc Duties
Participates as needed in division-wide initiatives by contributing expertise and knowledge within own area of responsibility. Provides backup assistance to other members of the finance team as required.
Perform any reasonable task as and when required by the Line Manager

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
Completed Diploma in Accounting / Bookkeeping OR Completed Bcom Accounting Degree.
Knowledge
Sound knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards IFRS, and Insurance Regulations
Good understanding of Government related acts (PMFA)
