Opportunity Description
Part-Time Contract Position: 21 hours a week over 3 days for 17 Months (1 August 2024 – 31 December 2024)
Sibikwa Arts Centre, based in Benoni, will be spearheading a project, funded by the Department of Arts and Culture, to develop and implement arts and culture programmes in collaboration with community arts centres, community arts organisations and municipal and provincial governments in four provinces: Free State, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and Limpopo. We are looking to appoint a finance administrator to manage the project’s financial processes and procedures.
The duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Adhering to the financial policies and procedures of Sibikwa
- Preparing and managing the project budget
- Allocating of funds according to budget line items
- Payroll responsibilities – receiving invoices, verifying documentation and loading payments
- Financial responsibilities – sourcing quotes and invoices, petty cash reconciliations, and requisitions for payments
- Working with Sibikwa’s Bookkeepers and Accountants to ensure sound financial practices, reporting and audits
- Keeping good filing systems and responding efficiently to financial queries
- Any other finance-related duties which may occur to ensure the smooth running of the project

Requirements:
- Relevant qualification in financial management, bookkeeping, or something similar
- At least 5 years’ experience in financial administration and at least 2 years’ in a managerial position
- An understanding of working within community environments and government systems
- A stronghold on national legislation in relation to financial compliance requirements
- Strong admin and organisational skills
- Excellent writing, reporting and communication skills
