SARAO has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Health and Safety Officer to join our team based in Carnarvon, Northern Cape. The Senior Health and Safety Officer is responsible for supervising, monitoring, planning and controlling the development and implementation of SHEQ departmental objectives on site.
- National Diploma in Health, Safety and Environmental
- Certification and experience in ISO: 9001, 14001 and 45001
- HIRA
- SACPACMP or SAIOSH registered (Advantageous)
- SAMTRAC/NEBOSH or equivalent
- OHS Act Legal Liability
Minimum work experience required:
- 5 years’ experience in the construction industry as a Health and Safety Officer of which 2 years’ should be in a supervisory capacity
- Proven experience in monitoring, controlling and processes, and procedures
- Proven experience in maintaining ISO accreditation and auditing
- Competency in MS Office/G Suite
Duties include (but not limited to):
- Take responsibility for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Health and Safety policies, procedures and standards to achieve the objectives of the SHEQ requirements to all construction and site activities
- Recommend, coordinate and execute Health and Safety processes of all construction and site based activities
- Participate in the development and implementation of environmental management processes, policies and procedures
- Ensure the sustainability and maintenance of appropriate organisational accreditations, including but not limited to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 for site specific activities
- Facilitate and ensure audit compliance of the international SKAO safety, health and environmental requirement to all international stakeholders and contractors on site
- Oversee the development and maintain legal compliance within the required legislators for SHE on all construction and site activities on site

- Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Decease Act (COIDA)
