STATS SA Bursaries
Statistics South Africa (Stats SA), previously known as Central Statistical Service, is the nation’s agency in providing statistical services. The main purpose of the agency is to provide up-to-date, accurate and official statistics to support economic growth and development and democracy. Stas SA is responsible in releasing social, economic and demographic surveys and census and until now has produced 3 census; in 1996, 2001 and 2011.
Available Fields of Study
Stats SA bursaries are available for applicants from Grade 12 students who are willing to study or undergraduate students who are currently studying in the following fields:

  • Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting, Statistics or Economics
  • Bachelor of Art in Geography (GIS), Population Studies or Demography
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Mathematical Statistics

Qualifications For Bursaries
Stats SA bursaries has several qualifications in selecting the potential bursars and those are:

  • Applicants are South African citizens with valid ID
  • Applicants age range from 17-21 years old
  • Able to provide proof of university acceptance letter
  • Applicants must have a minimum Achievement Level 5 in Mathematics
  • Applicants must have a minimum of 65% aggregate
  • Applicants are willing to study full-time in of the listed fields of study above
  • First and second year university student must have a minimum of 60% pass rate on all major subjects

Applying For Bursaries
The closing date of Stats SA bursaries is on 10 January and successful bursars will be informed on or before 30 January. The application form can be downloaded in this link:

Several documents required must be attached: copy of  certified South Africa ID, copy of certified Grade 12 Matric Certificate or other equivalents, Grade 12 June and September examinations results and testimonials, certified proof of parents/guardian monthly income/payslip and latest and complete CV and copy of certified academic results for Grade 12 and university students.
