Lecturer: Geography Methods

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Lecturing Geography Teaching methods to B. Ed and PGCE students
Lecturing aspects of Foundations of Education
Teaching issues related to National Curriculum Statements (NCS) and CAPS in Geography
Participation and leadership in the design and review of curriculum in Geography methods and other areas
Supporting student teachers in School Experience/ Work Integrated Learning
Undertake research for publication either individually or in collaboration with other academics
Initiating and participating in Community Engagement Projects
Supervision of postgraduate students
Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
Master’s Degree in Education, preferably in Science Education
Undergraduate degree majoring in Geography
Professional Teaching Qualification
At least 5 years’ experience in teaching Geography
Understanding of NCS and CAPS in Geography
